Lighthouse Kids Books

Reading has always held a special place in my heart. It unlocks imaginations, expands horizons, and empowers young minds. Unfortunately, in South Africa, children's reading rates are a cause for concern.

This is what ignited the fire to co-found a company dedicated to creating a love of reading in young South Africans. We believed in the power of personalised children's books and their ability to make reading a fun and engaging experience.

A Source of Pride

Within this initiative, I played a multifaceted role. I was passionate about creating a brand identity that resonated with children and parents alike. I spearheaded the development of the company's branding and communications strategy, crafting a message that spoke to the importance of nurturing a love of reading from a young age.

But words alone don't make a story come alive. I also had the pleasure of illustrating these personalised books. Working alongside my talented partner, Jamie-Lee, who crafted the captivating narratives, we aimed to create a visual experience that complemented the stories and sparked children's imaginations.

Developing this company was an incredibly rewarding experience. Seeing the joy on children's faces as they interacted with their personalised storybooks was truly inspiring. While I'm currently not actively involved due to capacity limitations, it's a project I'm incredibly proud of and one I hope to revisit in the future.
